OOTD - Green Dress and Michael Kors Accessories

I don't typically do these kind of post but I actually really liked the outfit that I wore to work today so I decided to snap a picture to share. I work in a medical office and the dress code is business casual from Monday through Thursday, and we get to wear jeans on Fridays.
Today was hot and humid and for this summer, I've been wanting to wear more dresses and skirts for some reason. They feel more comfortable, light, and feminine.

  • I'm wearing a grassy green dress that I purchased from Marshall, I think. It actually looks a bit brighter than pictured. I believe it was around $20.00. What I like about this dress is the color and style. It is knee length, which is appropriate for work. The length in the back is a few inches longer than the front. The dress has no sleeves and a collar neckline which leaves the shoulders and arm exposed. I also like that it is flowy, it's more flattering for thick women, like myself. On the side note, because of the neckline, I had to wear a strapless bra, which is my least favorite type of bras since I'm a little heavy on top and need all the support I can get, lol.

  • Since we are not supposed to leave our shoulders bare at work, I'm covering them up with a light beige cardigan that I got from New York and Company.

  • To add a bit of definition to my waist, I added a beige and brown Michael Kors belt that I got from TJ Maxx.

  • Because I'm short and have chubby legs, lol, which makes me look shorter, I have to resort to heels to make them look longer and leaner. I'm wearing these brown leather pumps from Michael Kors as well. I purchased them from DSW, one of my favorite shoe store.

  • As if I haven't got enough of Michael Kors, LOL, I purposely finished up the rest of my outfit with my Michael Kors watch and purse.

Overall, I think I coordinated the accessories well with the dress. The outfit is very office appropriate, simple, and stylish, without looking overdone.

Accessorize! It never fails to make and outfit looks more interesting and stylish. I gravitate towards designer brands in this department, mainly because I feel that they are a good long-term investment and add a little more class to a simple outfit. Whatever you choose, as long as it reflects your personal style. That is all that matters.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Any questions? Feel free to ask.

  3. Lovvve this outfit! It's really cute plus super flattering ;) The neckline of that dress is really pretty but I probably would have left it on the rack just because it requires a strapless (I hate them too). I've been wanting to wear more dresses to work but I feel kind of weird having my legs exposed (I work in a corporate type of setting and wear pants to work all year round).

    1. I think as long as your skirt or dress is about knee length then you should be fine. Sometimes we get so used to wearing the same things that we get uncomfortable to wear something new and different.
