Makeup Look With Kat Von D True Love Palette

I need to get back in the makeup groove but lately I've been stuck in a FML moment. I need someone or something to slap this shit out of me, lol.
On the lighter note I tried to come up with a makeup look using these new Kat Von D palettes that I got on sale from Sephora for $25.00. I've been reaching for the palettes quite often, but mostly using the neutral shades. I will do a review on the palette hopefully soon. I decided to do a rocker chick kind of look. Anyways I kept my hair simple since I was too lazy to make it look punk.

Face
  • Sally Hansen Matte Pressed Powder in Deep for contour
  • MAC MSF Perfect Topping for highlight
  • MAC Mineralize Blush Band of Roses
Eyes
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion Eden
  • NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil Purple Velvet as a colored base
  • KVD Babe all over lid
  • KVD Lucifer and Cholita on crease
  • KVD Missy on brow bone
  • Physicians Formula Eye Booster Ultra Black
  • Milani Liquif'Eye eyeliner pencil black, tightlining and waterline
  • ELF Eyebrow Kit
  • Ardell Sexies lashes
Lips
  • MAC Mattene lipstick Night Violet
  • MAC Lipglass Wrong Spell
  • I used MAC Select Cover Concealer to give my lips a sharper contour

Hope you enjoyed this look. I really like how vibrant Babe is on the lid. It's more of a bluish purple.

FYI, I forgot to picture the concealer, ELF eyebrow kit, and lashes

Collective Hauling - Sephora, Lush, Sally Beauty, and More...

I've collected a lot more than anticipated since my last haul. But I can't help it when I get offers for free stuff or find great deals, lol. Don't you just love it when you get rewarded for shopping. I seem to always fall for that.

 Sephora Haul
  • Kat Von D True Love and Angeles. Both are now on sale for $24.00 each on Sephora's website.
  • Claudalie Beauty Essentials From the Vine kit. $38.00.
  • Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau de Toilette spray. Free with purchase for VIB.
  • Sephora Mini sample kit. Free with purchase for VIB.
  • Bb Shine set. Free with Beauty insider 500 points.

Claudalie Beauty Essentials From the Vine kit includes sample size.
  • Cleansing water
  • Vinoperfect radiance serum
  • Pulpe Vitaminee eye and lip cream
  • Vinosource Quenching Sorbet-Creme
These are a great way to try new brands, especially if they are pricey. That way you don't have to commit to a full-sized, highly priced product, until you've tried and know you'll like it.

Bb Shine set includes: Let it Shine Shampoo, Let it Shine Conditioner, and Shine on Finishing Spray.

Sephora VIB sample kit:
  • Brazilian Peel facial treatment
  • Buxom Lash
  • NARS Pore Refining Primer
  • Benefit Stay Don't Stray
  • Philosophy Miracle Worker moisturizer
  • Phytolisse Serum
  • Stila tinted moisturizer
  • Tokidoki Siberia eau de toilette

Lush Haul
  • Head Case - Volume + Shine set. Each set cost about $25.00 and comes with 4 products. I'm really excited to try these. I didn't get the balance + repair set and I wonder if I should've.
  • Head Case - Protect + Nourish set

Finally! MAC Jealousy Wakes is mine! It was back in stock last week. **happy dance** now I can get on with my life, LOL.

Guess where I found this cute refillable perfume spray. My local Wal-Mart for less than $10.00. This is suppose to work just like the Travalo atomizers. Pretty awesome so check it out.

Sally Beauty Supply Haul
  • Femme Couture nail lacquers. They were buy 2 get one free. I actually quite like the formula of these polishes. From left to right: French Cafe, Gotcha Grape, French Ballet Pink.
  • Orly Powder Puff
  • Silk Elements Leave-in Conditioner. This was free because I renewed my Sally card and also got a $5.00 coupon back.

Dots Nail stickers. Each cost $2.50. I saw the exact same stickers at Sephora for $5.00!

I found these OPI polishes on sail inside a hair salon. They were BOGO half off. I purchased Jade is the new black and Panda-Monium Pink.

I think that's it for my haul. Hopefully, I didn't forget anything. Do you own any of these products? Or is there anything here that you are interested in?

July 2011 Favorites

Hi everyone,

I know I am a little late in regards to my July favorites. I haven't been as active as I was but I try to post interesting things for you. Speaking of that, please feel free to ask questions, request, or give me suggestions so I can make this blog more interesting.

Last month, I did my first favorite post, which included my most used products and beauty essentials. So when I decided to put together this month's favorites, I was like hmmmm...what else is new that I really liked beside the usual. It was kinda hard. I just realize now that I tend to use the same stuff. I'm gonna have to rotate a little more so that I get the most use of my makeup stash.

1.  Estee Lauder Double Wear Shadow Creme in Silver Leaf. I'm usually in the rush in the morning and really do not spend more than 10 minutes on my makeup. When I have the extra time, I still do a quick and easy look. This works perfectly for me. I can skip the primer cause it does a pretty good job on its own. I use my finger and spread it on my lids for a quick all over wash. The color is neutral so I don't have to worry about looking overdone.

2.  Josie Maran Blush/Bronzer Duo. I've been using this a lot in July. Having 2 products in one is convenient and fast. This is a great product and the blush is a close dupe of NARS Orgasm, which I did a comparison post already. Unfortunately it was part of a limited edition package, which is not longer available I think.

3.  Hard Candy Glamoflauge. I haven't got a chance to review this concealer yet but it does a great job and is affordable. This is heavy duty so it offers excellent coverage. I also like the fact that it comes with a concealer pencil, which I also like.

4.  MAC Strange Potion lipglass. The perfect pinkish coral lipgloss that offers great pigmentation and just easy to wear color for days you don't want to think too hard about what to put on your lips, lol. This is my usual go-to color when I'm in a rush. It goes with everything.

5.  MAC Perennial High Style lipglass. I just realized that this lipglass and Strange Potion are very similar. Only difference is this is creme finish and Strange Potion has fine shimmers. Perennial is slightly pinker. You may still be able to find this at your local CCO.

6.  Chanel Rouge Allure Laque 77. This is one of my favorite lip color. The formula and color is just perfect for daily wear. It feels smooth, moisturizing, long-wearing, and packed with pigmentation.

7.  Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. This is a great cheaper alternative to my favorite remover Lancome Bi-Facils. I got this as a sample but when I am done with this sample and Bi-Facils, I will repurchase.

8.  Chanel Le Vernis Graphite. Simply gorgeous and unique nail color. Madly in love with it when I first got it. This is new and limited edition for Chanel Fall collection.

9.  Chanel Le Vernis Peridot. This color is probably the most talked about from Chanel fall collection. This shade is phenomenal, multi-dimensional, and unique. You'll never find a dupe close to this color. These are my first Chanel nail polish purchase and although I felt the pain of the price. I personally think they were worth it.

10. Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer. This is perfect to wear on hot summer days when you know you are going to spend a little more time under the sun. This is SPF 40 and I only use it on my face to protect my skin from UV damage.

11. Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation. It's a tinted moisturizer but feels more like a gel. The coverage is very light but I love how it evens out my skin tone and looks sooo natural. I am generally not a fan of tinted moisturizers because I typically like full-coverage makeup but this changed my opinion and I really like how wonderfully natural my face looks when I use it. It has SPF30. I love to wear this when I know I'm going to be exposed to heat and sun for an extended period. It has a weird medicinal scent to it. I don't particularly like it but I can deal with it.

12. Smashbox Arced Liner Brush 21. I just love it. I always reach for this brush when using gel liners.

13. Tarte Waterproof Amazonian Clay liner, Black. This has a great staying power. I mostly use it for tight lining. It stays where most liners don't.

14. Make Up Forever Aqua Liner 13. It's a waterproof liquid eyeliner. This won't budge, smudge, or melt when you sweat. Highly recommended for summer or when you need your eyeliner to last until you take it off.

15. Milani Liquif'Eye Eyeliner Pencil Black. I use this alternatively with the Tarte Clay Liner for tight lining. I mostly reach for this when I'm in a crunch for time. It does smudge a bit on me though but I mostly use it when it's convenient.

That's it for my July faves. Please, let me know how you like these if you've tried them.

NYX Matte Lipsticks Review

Hello Lovelies,

I'm back from vacation and I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I've been on a roller coaster between my personal life and work. I guess I can admit, I've lost my motivation and needed the break. The vacation was relaxing but I'm already longing for another vacation. Perhaps, I'll treat myself to a spa. I could use a facial and massage. I love to spoil myself when I'm feeling a little down.

I already posted a preview of these new NYX Matte lipsticks a couple weeks ago so feel free to check it out if you haven't already. I purchased them for $4.99 from Cherryculture.com.

Packaging
  • They are slightly longer than the average lipstick
  • In the center of the lipstick, you get a clear view of the actual color. I personally would prefer the colorview on the end or top of the lipstick because I like to store them vertically.
  • The case is matte black, lightweight, and looks and feels cheap.
  • Net weight is .16 oz or 4.5 g
Product
  • I typically don't wear a lot of matte but I actually really like these because they are pigmented, creamy, and apply smoothly.
  • Matte lipsticks have a tendency to be drying; however, I didn't find these to be either drying or moisturizing although my lips felt comfortable for the most part.
  • They have a muted fruity scent, which I don't mind.
  • They last on average about 3 hours on my lips. Although they will fade quicker through a meal, some of the lipcolor will remain so you'll still be left with stained lips.
  • They will emphasize dry lips if you don't exfoliate and prep them prior to applying the lipstick.
Colors

Tea Rose would probably be a favorite among many. It's a medium dusty, cool-toned rose which will look great on most skintone. I have quite a handful colors similar to it.

Summer Breeze is a medium blue based pink. It looks like a bubble gum pink in the tube but surprisingly actually looks more wearable on the lips. I quite like it.

Sweet Pink is a fuchsia pink. Not as bold as some I've seen. I love this type of lipcolor. It's fun and flirty.

Sierra is a corally/rose brown I suppose. It doesn't look like anything in the tube but on my lips, I actually like it. It's a good alternative to pinks, nudes, and corals. I think this color would look great on every skintone.

Conclusion
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this lipstick as far as the formula goes. This is definitely matte although you may notice a slight sheen at first due to the creaminess of the product but once it sets, it looks like a true matte. It wears for a pretty decent amount of time. Doesn't feel drying. You'll need to exfoliate and prep your lips prior to application so that it doesn't accentuate any dry flaky skin you may have. I am not a fan of the packaging though but I can deal with it since it's practical and the product works for me.
If you are looking for a matte lipstick, I would definitely recommend these. NYX have 22 different shades to choose from. Since these are new, they may be hard to find in stores so you'll have better luck ordering online.
My rating 9/10.

Have you tried these yet? Which color do you like?
